Sanford and Carol Goldman

Long time residents of Rogers Park who were leaders of the Community Council and well known by young and old alike. Sanford “Sandy” wrote an opinion blog about neighborhood matters and was a local activist. He had worked for Broyhill Furniture for 25 years and had been the owner of a local video store, and ran the “Hi Neighbor Day” carnival. Carol worked on projects for seniors, housing resources, and fundraising for the community, and was a member of the garden club. They traveled the world together and were a very social couple.

Bruno Roti

Bruno Roti was the owner of Bruno’s Lounge in Rogers Park which he started in 1956. It is a long time half-bar, half-liquor store in the vicinity Loyola University, and well known by students and local residents. Bruno moved to the neighborhood when he was 10, and stayed and raised his own family and ran the bar 7-days a week from early morning to late night. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Bruno. They visited him after they moved away. He was always there to help. When he retired his son took over the bar, and he still spent his time there.

Margaret Hartigan Way

Margaret Dunne Hartigan was a long time resident of the Rogers Park neighborhood and a very active civic leader. She held several board memberships in a wide range of community institutions supporting education, and the arts. This included: The Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago, Sacred Heart Schools, St. Ignatius College Prep, Northwestern University, DePaul University, Loyola University, Rosemont College, Georgetown University, The Rogers Park Community Council, The Chicago Community Trust Executive Committee, The Museum of Science and Industry, The Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, The Harris Theater, John F. Kennedy Center, The American Cancer Society, 49th Ward Democratic Party.
